About

Short Version:

Artist, Writer, Book Nerd, Wine Lover, Blogger, and Ponderer of all things post-apocalyptic.

Long(er) Version:

My head has always been in the clouds.

The first half of my child was spent in Maryland, the latter half (and more turbulent half) in Georgia. I was always either drawing, painting, writing a story, or just coming up with imaginary characters I would act out to my friends. I reveled in my weirdness, my uniqueness. As an adult not much has changed. Well. Except the acting out of strange characters from made up worlds.

I survived Cancer my senior year of high school, then went on to college to study Art only to discover I didn’t enjoy art school. I switched to English and finally to Anthropology. In between everything I married, had a miracle baby and divorced. I moved away from writing to focus on painting, but continued to read and appreciate the literary arts.

I remarried several years later and had the opportunity to live abroad, two years in London and another two on the beautiful Dorset coast. I studied art (Btec in the Visual Arts) in a short course at Kensington & Chelsea College, held a residency at Kew Studios and joined a wonderful artist group in Bournemouth. All the while I devoured books and yearned to write.

When I returned to the US in 2008 I knew that time had arrived.

I’m still painting, and selling my art online, but I’m making more time to write. I suspect there could come a time when the need to write will outweigh the need to paint. After all, there was a time when I wrote more than I painted. But I’ll cross that bridge when it comes.

I also have a blog where I write book reviews, ramble about art, our garden, the birds and my feisty cats. http://almakepeace.wordpress.com
