This week’s story-a-day progress:

23rd: (sci-fi) “Selective Service,” 2300 words

27th: (humorous contemporary fantasy) “The Four Lawyers of the Apocalypse,” 2600 words

Did 2300 words today on a sci-fi story titled “Selective Service.” Ironically, I think it’s one of my better titles (I’m notoriously bad at titling), and it’s going to have to be changed. I plan on polishing this one up and submitting it to a themed anthology, and the anthology has guidelines on titles (and this title won’t work). But I’ll worry about that during the revision process.

For now, it’s time to say, “

Time for another update!

I spent most of the week “unplugged” so that I could concentrate on writing & the things going on in real life (mom’s doc appts, kiddos dentist, other kiddos moving prep, etc.). So this weekend I’ll have a ton of catching up to do on the regular blog & Twitter.

As for writing a story every day, I did okay. For the first time, I missed a day. Here’s how the week played out:

May 16th: (sci-fi) “Earth Day” 1300 words

May 17th: (fantasy) “Under a Bone Moon” 3400 words

May 18th: Nada. Zippo. Zilch.

May 19th: (horror) “Evolution” 1400 words

May 20th: (sci-fi) “Nuclear Summer” 4200 words

Not bad. At this point, I should be sitting on 15 stories, and I’m only off by one.

Best day yet! Wrote 3700 words today on a horror short. Working title is Grubs, but that’s definitely going to change (I’m SO bad at titles).

I really got into this story. I sat down to write, wondering what I was going to write about . . . then I remembered reminiscing with my youngest this past weekend about a fishing trip where she found some st

It has definitely been one of those weeks! I did meet my Story-A-Day goal (one story a day, Monday through Friday), but it wasn’t easy.

Thursday, I wrote just over 1900 words on a horror story with the working title, “Seven Year Itch.”

Friday, I wrote an almost 600 word humorous urban fantasy with the working title, “Starry Knight.”

Whew!

Over on my regular blog, Monday’s post is going to contain some helpful writing prompt links and tools that I’ve been using to help generate story ideas. Be sure to check it out on Monday!

Due to familial obligations (no comment, lol), I got a late start today. However, it worked out to my benefit. I had no idea what I was going to write about. While we were out, I picked up our community newsletter and pages through it. There, on the back page calendar of events, was my idea!

So I ended up writing a horror short of just over 2100 words. Worki

May 3rd

Today I wrote a horror short of just over 2000 words. It involves a Sasquatch-like creature and the working title is, “My Heart Belongs to the Mountain.”

I also got some editing done on my humorous urban fantasy short, “Sympathy for the Devil,” and a finished the draft of another horror short, “Revelations” (which was, until today, merely a “vignette”).

It was a good, good day! :)
