The concept of Pele came about from me watching Avatar: The Last Airbender. I really liked Zuko. From the first and second books, he’s totally my favorite character. He goes awry somewhere during book three and I haven’t finished book four yet, but I’m still cheering for my antagonist. I’m cheering for the antagonist. That’s what birthed the idea of Pele.
This story is a set-up for a later work I plan on doing, but wanted to establish Pele for my own enjoyment and because I thought she had a story to tell.
Pele has always sought her father’s approval. She tells herself that someday she will be important to him, so in preparation of that day Pele has studied dark magic, seeking to become a Hana mana; one of the women who make even powerful Hemigidius cautious. Raised in a world of crime, where right and wrong are defined by who holds the keys to the worlds drug cabinet, what will Pele do to gain her fathers love?
