Day 6: Walk for Hunger

I’m almost finished the 20 mile walk today but when a team mate had to stop at 16.5- hey I’m more than happy with that number. As it is I’m worried I’ll be showing up to school in the morning in my Super Mario pajamas!

So I wasn’t planning on writing today but I got some sad news when I finally made it home and felt like writing something about an amazing woman who will be greatly missed.  Pardon my sad attempt at poetry!

She was full of laughter and light,

a lady whose soul was young and old

at the same time.  She was a creative genius

who found anything could spark her imagination

and just being around her made others push

for things they never before dreamed.

A joke, a chat, she was always good at that.

Whenever I think of her my heart sings

because her beauty imbues everything.

I’ll miss my friend though we’ve been apart

a sweet, zany one who was always up for a lark.

Bravo! for making your walk. Thanks for sharing your poem. So sorry about your friend.

    • Hi Roberta! I had a great time at the walk… though my body wishes it could stay in bed all day today. And thanks for your comment. I’m still in shock about my friend. I woke up hoping it was only a bad dream and can’t imagine how her family is.

  2. My thoughts are with you on your loss.
Thank you for sharing the poem. Poems are always a great resource for emotions.

    • Thanks Summer. I ‘m not that great at poems but every time I tried to write something else I could only think of her. It did feel better to get it out : )
