Day 16: Back!

I missed a few days… I think two but trying to find an index card with story from 5/13/12.  So school is now over for the semester.  Monday was my last final and now I can take a bit of a breather.  Instead of finishing my series I finally succumbed to a plot bunny that I’ve written snippets about for years.  It’s an anime fan fiction- something I’ve never really tried before.

Got in 1100 for FF short. Could keep going with it- I probably will.  I can’t believe it’s already 16 days into the month!

Tomorrow’s Plan

Start Regency series again.  Should have it finished in 4-5 days.

Day 10: StoryADay in May streak!

Yep, ten days of writing.  In a row. Complete!!!

Say yay with me :)

I’m almost done with today’s story… yes it is ANOTHER continuation.  I really want to start some other stories but can’t seem to stop writing this ridiculous regency.

After Gwen pushed her would be suitor in the water she met up with some locals while her as of yet unnamed suitor dumps out his weed filled, watery Hessians.  They just met back up and somehow they’ll make it back to her house without any more mishaps.  But I have a feeling Gwen won’t get off easy for ruining his favorite pair of boots!

Tomorrow’s Plan

My A&P practical! Baby pigs and slides.  If I survive I’ll try to get a big chunk of this story done and catch up on some other participant’s stories.

What about you?

Have a favorite story you’ve written so far?  Or one you hate?

Day 8: maybe romance isn’t my forte

Have you ever read a traditional regency? Not the steamy historicals that take place in the Regency era but the oftentimes shorter, sweeter, and are more focused on the humorous or vagaries of the time. I’ve tried off and on to write in one of my favorite genres but either the heroine is too perfect (I like flawed so much better-easier for me to relate to you know) or the story is boring or I find myself laughing at every scene.

And that is where I’m at right now. Giggle fest. I also tend to start a regency with the hero and heroine with some sort of background and this time they truly meet for the first time in #1 of the interconnected stories. Now I have the hero ready to make a move in #6 and wonder if it’s too soon.

I’m just going to keep writing and let him have his way. His nobility after all and he doesn’t like to be gainsayed. I’ll just keep all my giggling to myself!

Tomorrow’s Plan

Continue with a Gwen’s backwards wooing and she steals her sort of suitors carriage.  After all now that she shoved him into the pond, she better go get him some towels.

Day 7: 500 flash but still Regency Seaside

I wanted to start a new theme today but really feel like continuing on my Regency seaside resort one from last week.  So if I contain myself my regency chapterlettes (is that what they are called?) will wear themselves out by Thursday at the latest.  Then I hope to follow the prompts until next week.

Speaking of getting worn out I’m still sore and stiff from yesterday’s walk but I didn’t get ONE blister so I’m very happy about that.

Here’s one of my little finger puppets who came along for the walk.  He’s very lazy and only came out of my bag once.  Naturally, it was at snack time!  Please excuse the time stamp and bad quality. My sister generously let me take her point and shoot- too bad I didn’t know how to use it!

Tomorrow’s Plan

A carriage ride that may or may not end in one person’s dunking or public humiliation at the very least!

Day Four: Story or Chapter?

Yep, even though I planned on a series of interconnected stories that I was thinking of turning into a novella or short story today my story (the longest so far) ended but not as a clear cut stand alone but a chapter.

And I’m okay with that. I’m not okay that I was going to write a short where the Regency gent gets scalded in his bath by an angry lady (I always giggle at that sort of thing) but it ended up at a ball instead. And the gent is unsuccessfully avoiding her!

I just wanted to share one of my favorite stories so far from another Story A Day in May writer Sam Webb’s The House of Memories.
I’m going to try to share one every post because there are so many wonderful stories out there.

Countdown to Walk for Hunger is two days!

Yep, don’t expect a post on Sunday I’ll most likely be wallowing on the couch with ice packs and such. Night!

Day Three: Sort of Complete

I finished almost 800 words in the wee hours of the morning and had every intention of writing more but considering I’ve had to restart this post at least FIVE times I think I’ll call it a night  Story was just shy of 800 calories words (told you I was sleepy)  so I’m more than happy with that. I’ve discovered a few more Regencyy resources that I’ll be sharinng in a few days.

Next up

Take a much needed nap!  Oh and work on today’s part B as another short (more like chapters to maybe a novella) .

What about you?

Night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Day Two: Regency gossip

Today’s story is a continuation from yesterday and after writing it I realized I either have to change the setting or change it to a Victorian time period.  That irks me.  I’ll leave it alone for now and just keep writing.

But I’ll be researching if they had anything like a Turkish bath in UK as early as 1820.  I might switch it to a hot spring and maybe watch a few Jane Austen movies… for research naturally!

Point of today’s tale?

Two regency gents soaking in hot springs talking about the ladies they ran into that morning.

Tomorrow’s plan

A scalding

How is your day two going?

Update

I did some more research and can now relax- sort of.  Even though I don’t want my story to be set in Bath but a small seaside resort the Roman Baths with hot springs is just too much of a temptation to ignore.

OH CURSES!

I just found ANOTHER flaw in my faulty thinking.  And this is why I should have planned this out a wee bit better.  Well perhaps by the end of this series I’ll have it all figured out.

Rambles away searching for smelling salt for being a complete addlepate!

Day One Done

Phew I started my first story right after midnight but between silly things like work, sleep, eat, & homework I almost didn’t finish my first story of the month.  I’m not going to lie- it’s not my  favorite but I’m trying something different so I’m happy with that.  One thing I noticed is that I didn’t set my time zone right on here so I’m changing the publishing time for this post!

I decided to go with a Regency theme this week with at least five interconnected stories.  All of them will have something in common… can you guess what it is by the picture below?

My writing method today:  paper-> 750words.com by computer and Nook Tablet

In other news what do you think of my temporary blog header?  I took the picture at Wachusett Reservoir last week and adding the extra bits on PicMonkey.

Are you on Google+?

Because I’m making a circle just leave a comment on this post and link to your storyaday profile so I can add you there too!

Tomorrow’s plan

Two Regency gentlemen in a bath house…
