This appears to be my problem. I can run on and on but I don’t seem to get anywhere.

As a primary teacher, I’m always excited to find just the right book to model and teach writing strategies to children. I’m looking forward to this challenge, hoping that I might write a book that I would be proud to use in my classroom!

I have to outline, or I end up with a wonderful beginning and nothing else. :P In the past I have not been a great outliner. This is another area in which I hope Story A Day will stretch me (we need a “recovering pansters” group. . .). I am a firm believer in drafts. [...]

I jump right into stories and let them take me places. I have never been much of a planner and I cannot count the number of times I have started a story and it went in a completely opposite direction from when I started.

Sitting at the back of the class, Adrian was happy.  He could monitor the reaction of the other students, finishing his tasks when they did.  He was careful to choose library books that had been returned, but not […]

ThumbnailYes I’d like to blame my sporadic writing today on Sherlock.  Not on the quick errand that took nearly five hours, not the two hour lounge beneath the apple tree, and not the time wasting of rebuilding a forgotten […]

  • Lalage wrote a new post, Story 21, May 17th, on the site chameleon tea 6 hours, 28 minutes ago

The wooden pew creaked under her weight as she shifted to get a handkerchief from her purse. With exactly forty-four votive candles twinkling on the tabernacle, the place was beginning to heat. Our Lady of Lourdes […]

  • Vat wrote a new post, Back Staircase, on the site words and whispers 7 hours, 38 minutes ago

The back staircase coiled up in the narrow space next to the chimney.   It was warm, there, even when the rest of the great house was frigid with winter.  It was quiet, when the floors squeaked and groaned and the […]

Another story resulting from a random prompt generator (two people who dislike each other in the back of a cab). This one suffers, I think, from lack of content in the actual story. I think it would make a decent […]

  • Monique Cuillerier wrote a new post, May 9: Dinner Time, on the site Monique's Story a Day Blog 18 hours, 6 minutes ago

This story came from a random prompt generator that suggested taking two random sentences from a book, with one becoming the first sentence and the other the last. These sentences came from ”The World’s Best […]
