Bungle in the Jungle – 333 words. A silly little thing inspired by yesterday’s annular eclipse of the sun.
Eight stories in fifteen weekdays That’s better than a story every other weekday, plus I have two unfinished stories. I’d call that a win for my modest goals this year. Let’s see if I can improve the count by the end of the month.
Drinking by Moonlight – 930 words. Vampire meets werewolf, with grave robbers.
Pilgrimage – 368 words. Dreams become reality at a Japanese shrine.
“Anish the Fishmonger” {633 words) on the 11th, “Pascal and the Incubus” (1215 words) on the 14th. Both very twisted from the story prompts that Julia offered, but good stories, I think. Julia liked “Anish” but has not yet seen “Pascal.” We shall see – it was pretty dark.
That’s five for the month, about half the rate I was hoping for, but if I can keep this up (and especially if I can catch up a little) I’m going to call it a win. Add the nine stories (four of them twitter fics, I’ll admit, but hey, they got me going) that I wrote during the warm-up course and I’m doing very well indeed, especially compared to the last few years. I wrote now and again, but never finished anything. Now I’m writing and finishing stories regularly. I like that.

May 8th – 633 word story. This in the head of a vampire, staked through the chest, waiting for dawn. Julia liked it.
3 out of 6 weekdays so far. Hope to catch up to the 3 days I missed sometime during the month. Wrote most of this one at work, in between alerts. That’s a bit of a breakthrough for me. If I can keep doing that it will make this whole thing a lot easier.
750 words, starting with Dani’s story prompt. This one was more of a kids story with no fantasy or SF elements. About 90 minutes from brainstorming to finish. I expect I’ll start writing longer as the month progresses, and on weekends when I have more time.
830 word story today – took about two hours including brainstorming. I’ve got a couple of stories to write for the 1st and 2nd – figure I’ll catch them this weekend after I’m off work for the week. I’m going to shoot for five a week – if I get six, great. I’ll take Sundays off though.
The Warm-Up Course that I took was really great. Broke the block and got me writing again. Thanks, Julie Duffy! You’re wonderful!
