Let’s Stick Together – in the StoryADay Cafe

Something I do with the StoryADay Superstars, is get together once in a while for writing sprints.

During this next couple of weeks, when everyone is isolating physically, I thought it might be helpful to open that up to the whole community. So you’re invited to join us for some writing dates!

When

Check out the calendar for up-to-date times and the links to join the meetings, but as of now, I have scheduled a few dates for this week into next (all times are US Eastern. Find your time here)

Wednesday, March 18, 8:30-10 AM

Thursday, March 19, 8:30-10 AM & 1-2:30 pm

Friday, March 20, 8:30-10 AM

Monday, March 23, 7-8 PM

How It Works

We dial into Zoom and sit in a virtual room together, chat a bit, do some writing sprints, coming and going as we can.

Writing Sprints: these don’t have to be you, writing stories. You can use the 15-minuted timed bursts to do ANYTHING you’re having trouble focusing on: writing, meditation, housework, taxes… Just turn off all other social media and the news, and focus on doing something good.

You can drop in at any time during each session and stay as long as you can.

These sessions will NOT be recorded.

Check here for the community guidelines. By participating you’re agreeing to them. (tl;dr: don’t be a jerk.)

If you’re shy, you can keep the camera and/or microphone turned off and just watch the rest of us look silly on camera. There’s a text chat feature so you can still join in the conversation.

What You Need

Some kind of device that lets you access Zoom. It can be a desktop browser, the downloadable Zoom client, a smart phone or a tablet.

Ideally you’ll have a camera and a pair of headphones with a microphone attached, so you can hear and talk to us. (You can use the device’s inbuilt speakers and microphone if you must, but you might get a bit of feedback and crosstalk.

P.S. While you’re waiting for the meetings, why not enjoy a little Bryan Ferry
