PICK A SONG TITLE AND USE IT AS YOUR STORY’S TITLE
Scan this page quickly and pick a title that leaps out at you. Browse around a bit if you need to but use the rule of three: if you haven’t found something on the third page, tough. You’re stuck with it. Pick one and write the story.
Use the title as the title of your story. (It can be very, very tenuously connected to your story.)
Steal someone else’s title for your story
Go!
Picked out a song from a top 50’s and 60’s songs site.
“In the Midnight Hour” turned into a ghost story about a ghost who becomes corporeal every night from midnight to one AM. 😀
I wanted to write it while walking the dog this morning so I went one from the list link I found (sorry, Julie).
Anniversary Waltz by Englebert Humperdinck who’s singing our (UK) Eurovision song this year. 🙂 It’s actually very nice.
The story’s on http://morgenbailey.wordpress.com/2012/05/07/story-a-day-may-2012-may-7th-the-dancing-stopped-in-1983 if anyone would like to read it and a You Tube link to Englebert singing is in the intro. 🙂
Ah, Englebert!
I tried to explain the Eurovision to an American friend the other day. It’s…hard to do 😀
Eurovision synopsis: out of tune* song contest where favourite countries vote for each other (*which makes it all the more fun to watch!) 🙂
OK, now it should link to a resource of song titles.
What? You mean you aren’t reading my mind by this point?!
(a-hem, thanks. Will correct.)
I totally meant to do the song prompt properly…. but I chickened out with my first song… then the second was worse…. and finally, song three was a farewell love song. So….. I ended up with combining all three into something really wretching to write. But, it was fun to try something different. Thanks.
Just what I was thinking.
http://www.tonybmusic.co.uk/piano_bar_songs_by_title.htm has a load… some cheesier than others. 🙂
I’m putting the stories on my blog if anyone would like to go and have a look (http://morgenbailey.wordpress.com/my-writing/story-a-day-may).
D’oh, have corrected it now, but sorry about that, and thank you Morgen, for providing a working link for those east of where I live!
Ideed what page, I was also scanning, but no songtitles……:-(…….;-)
“Scan this page quickly and pick a title that leaps out at you”
What page? lol
Lol I was thinking the same XD
