  1. Well we are half way through the month and I hit a major writer’s block with my novel. But that’s okay. I had an idea for a story. Not sure if it’s going to be a novel or not. It’s a dark story about Goth. I spent two days researching Goth and in the past 3 days I wrote over 9,000 words. I don’t want to give any more of it away. Hope everyone else is doing well with their goals this month.

  2. I’m working on the first draft of a fantasy novel. I started it last month and I’m already over 9,000 words in. It’s nice to have momentum (here’s hoping it sticks)!

My primary goal for August is to propel the story into Act 2. My word count goal is to hit 30,000 (so 21,000 words to go!), but where I am in the story matters more to me as a goal post.

    1. Awesome! And don’t get discouraged if you slow down as it gets more complicated. That’s just how it goes. Keep writing!

  3. Last month was interesting. I kept a daily writing streak going from June 2 till July 15, which made me very proud, since I’d written very little in the months before then.

I’ve got a goal of writing 120 days this year, and so far I’m a little ahead of schedule, which is nice (I was super behind before my big streak). For August, my goal is to write at least 10 days this month, hopefully on a few fandom things that are going to be happening this month.

  4. I haven’t moved much with my writing since January; life got in the way. I have written down really brief character idea notes, however.

My goals for August would be to finish a messy first draft of a play or story weekly and have 10 solid ideas for a pitch list.

    1. Life does have a way of doing that. (Right there with you!)

I’m glad you’re taking us as part of the territory and just moving forward.

Best of luck with that draft. Rooting for you.

  5. I didn’t comment last month. But my goal was to finish editing this year’s May StoryADay. June was a rough month. I lost my mother in law. I’ve known her for 40 yrs. So I committed July to focus on that. Goal accomplished!!!

August goal is to crack down and work on my novel. It takes place in the 60s and ends at Woodstock. I’ve been working on it for almost 3 years. My New Year’s resolution was to have it completed my August 15. (Anniversary of Woodstock) but now it’s just to see what I’ve written, edit if needed but go on and write write write!!!

    1. Ah, my condolences. It’s a tough time, so doubly well done for completing your personal challenge!

And I love the grace you’re giving yourself for the August deadline, to make it inspiring and still reachable.

  6. I’m submitting a story to a critique group today, and working on a novel. Also reading like a bookworm-child-in-the-summer-holidays. Yay!
